7 key takeaways from Team ’26 Europe AI, product development and customer-centric innovations

We’d been looking forward to Team ’26 Europe for weeks, and Amsterdam certainly gave us plenty to talk about!

Between the product announcements, conversations at booth 408 and the chance to catch up with customers and partners in person, it was a great reminder of what makes the Atlassian community so special.

We also had two big moments of our own to look forward to: Hassan Khadra from Automation Consultants taking the stage to share how he built an agentic PMO with Rovo and Claude, and our AppFox happy hour, where we could thank the people we work with throughout the year.

We came away with plenty of new ideas about AI, product development and the future of connected work. Here are seven of our biggest takeaways.

1. AI needs context to deliver better outcomes

One of Atlassian’s biggest messages at Team ’26 Europe was clear: AI is only as useful as the context behind it.

In their session, Connected Context, Governed Action, Jamil Valliani and Rob Bissett explored how organisations can move beyond isolated AI productivity gains towards meaningful business outcomes.

At the centre of this is Atlassian’s Teamwork Graph, which connects people, projects, decisions and knowledge across applications, giving Rovo and other AI agents a richer understanding of how teams actually work.

With Rovo increasingly integrated across Atlassian and third-party tools, AI can work with connected information rather than relying on disconnected prompts.

The takeaway? Better AI outcomes aren’t necessarily about more powerful models. They’re about giving agents the right information, appropriate permissions and enough context to make their actions useful.

2. Agentic AI still needs humans in the loop

One of our favourite sessions came from Hassan Khadra, Senior Project Manager at Automation Consultants, who shared how he built an agentic PMO to tackle the administrative workload slowing down project delivery.

Rather than hiring more people or buying another tool, Hassan created a system of 11 specialist agents coordinated by a super agent, using Rovo and Claude.

The agents work together to identify risks, draft documents, monitor budgets and produce project reports, reducing the time spent chasing updates and assembling information.

The results Hassan reported were impressive: approximately 25% of PM capacity released and three times the project throughput.

But the important detail was the human involvement. Around 200 decisions a week still pass through an approve, edit, defer or reject process.

AI takes on the administration while humans retain the judgement and accountability that good project management requires.

Want to build your own team of agents?

Hassan is scaling up his system of agents to cover more than just project management. If you’re looking to create an agentic team, speak to one of the team at Automation Consultants (our parent company) to find out what we can build for you and your organization.

I want to learn how to do this!

3. AI is helping us build more customer-centric products

Atlassian’s session, Turning customer feedback into better roadmap decisions, explored a problem most product teams recognise: customer feedback is everywhere, but turning it into meaningful improvements isn’t always straightforward.

Atlassian’s new Product Collection brings together customer feedback, Jira Product Discovery and Rovo to help teams identify patterns, understand customer needs and connect insights directly to roadmap decisions.

It’s an approach we strongly believe in at AppFox.

Customer feedback has been a big influence on our recent product development, including the new Workflow Builder and branching workflows in Workflows for Confluence.

It’s also central to how we’re developing OneApproval. Rather than assuming we know how every organisation manages approvals, we’re working with design partners to understand their processes and build around real requirements.

Because ultimately, building features faster means little if they aren’t solving the right problems.

4. Regulated industries continue to love AppFox products

Something that stood out in our conversations was the continued interest from organisations working in regulated environments.

For these teams, it’s not enough for a tool to make everyday tasks easier. It also needs to support the controls, documentation and accountability their organisation depends on.

  • Compliance for Confluence helps teams identify and redact sensitive information, apply page sensitivity labels and restrict access to content.
  • Workflows for Confluence provides controlled publishing, version management, branching workflows and approval histories.
  • Optimizer for Jira helps administrators identify configuration issues, audit their instances and clean up unused or duplicate configurations.

Together, these capabilities help organisations maintain stronger controls and supporting evidence for frameworks and standards such as NIST, SOC 2 and ISO 27001, without relying so heavily on manual administration.

5. OneApproval got people talking

One of our biggest personal highlights was the response to OneApproval, our new cross-platform approvals product, which we’re developing for launch in 2027.

We’ve spent years helping customers improve their approval processes in Confluence, particularly through Approvals for Confluence, one of our most popular apps.

But enterprise teams rarely work in just one application.

That’s why we’re taking approvals beyond the Atlassian ecosystem. OneApproval is being designed to let people review and approve documents directly in tools such as Confluence and Microsoft 365, while bringing approval status, decisions and evidence together in a central dashboard. We’re also exploring support for Google Docs and other platforms.

It fits with Atlassian’s wider push towards connected work across different tools, and the conversations at Team reinforced why it matters.

We’re currently inviting design partners to help shape what comes next.

6. Solution partners remain essential in a crowded Marketplace

According to Ampin, approximately 400 new apps go live on the Atlassian Marketplace every day. With AI-assisted development lowering the barrier to building software, evaluating which apps offer real functionality, security and reliability is becoming increasingly important.

That’s why we value working with Automation Consultants and other solution partners who help customers find the right tools for their requirements, taking the burden off our customers’ shoulders and putting it onto the product experts who know what’s worth adding to your instance.

If you’re exploring what AppFox can offer, here’s a quick overview from our product brochure:

  • Workflows for Confluence: Control reviews, approvals and publishing across the document lifecycle.
  • Compliance for Confluence: Protect sensitive data and strengthen compliance across Confluence.
  • Optimizer for Jira: Track Jira health with reports, site audits and bulk actions.
  • Approvals for Confluence: Simplify reviews and keep controlled content up to date.
  • Captionizer for Confluence: Make images and diagrams accessible in seconds with AI.
  • OneApproval (coming 2027): Keep document approvals together, even when the documents aren’t.

7. Our Happy Hour turned into several more hours

We couldn’t finish our Team ’26 highlights without mentioning our AppFox Happy Hour!

What started as a chance to get together for a drink turned into several hours of catching up with customers, partners and friends from Atlassian.

It was also an opportunity to reflect on a busy year. From moving our apps to Forge and launching the new Workflow Builder, to improving Compliance’s Cloud migration support and bringing Optimizer to Government and Isolated Cloud, there’s been plenty happening behind the scenes.

But the best part was getting to hear from so many of you in person. Seeing familiar faces, meeting new ones and hearing how you’re using our apps is what makes these events worthwhile.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, and to the AppFox team who made the evening happen.

We’ll see you at the next one!
